Travel Tips
- Most workers in the area speak English, though the national language is Spanish. Knowing basic Spanish is not only respectful but can be helpful as well.
- Cabo uses the Mexican Peso, though U.S. Dollars are widely accepted. Converting cash to Pesos is wise as your change will most always be delivered in Pesos, so the exchange rate is unfavorable.
- Be sure to pack for the beach and dressy casual for dinners out and nightclubs.
- Don’t be afraid of hole-in-the-wall taco joints, but generally dining out is expensive though fascinating for your taste buds.
- Main tourist areas are relatively safe, though visitors should always be vigilant with belongings. Pickpocketing is common so keep your cash in multiple places. Those looking for a drive should be cautious on the Transpeninsular Highway after dark when there have been highway robberies reported.
- The best way to get around Cabo is on foot. Water taxis are also available. If you plan to travel between San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, you will want to drive yourself. Be cautious traveling off the beaten path.
