Description
This modernist jewel, designed by famous architect Enrique Sagnier, will sweep guests back to a time of opulence and beauty with every last detail. The site for several scenes in Woody Allen's masterpiece, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Villa 1904 has been fully restored and updated to offer all of the luxuries of the present, but with an air of a time passed. Located on a private, wooded hill positioned in the middle of the city, the home offers sweeping views and total privacy, still allowing for easy access to shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. Impeccably decorated and filled with remarkable art, every element of this residence has a story to tell. Featured in the most prestigious architectural and design magazines in the world, Villa 1904 is the perfect illustration of splendor and taste.
The villa is staffed with a charming couple, there to provide guests with cooking, cleaning and serving as needed. They are located just a moment away at the service house on premises and are ready to assist.
Villa 1904 is accessed via a prestigious, private road in middle of the city, where once you enter through the private gates you’ll arrive at the splendidly palatial entrance. On the home’s main floor, the grand living room was decorated by one of Spain’s top interior designers with a mix of antiques and modern furnishings. A cozy den opens up off the living area with TV, fireplace with ornate wooden mantle and intimate sitting area overlooking the gardens. The extravagant ceilings are 15 feet high, typical of the modernist era, with delicate crown molding, period trim and details that transport guests back to a more lavish and regal time. Opening off this room is an eclectic office which also functions as library with books shelved as high as the ceiling. The dining room boasts a red lacquer table for 12 which seamlessly unfolds into the outside patio and alfresco dining area for eight, sheltered by a floral entwined gazebo. The patio on this level is carved out of the mountain rock and surrounded by vegetation eventually opening up to a stunning natural shaped pool carved into the rocks. Relaxing on the terracotta tile patio with a plethora of lounge chairs and bistro seating, guests absorb the spectacular view of the city with beautiful sea beyond. The state of the art kitchen, informal dining room and cellar are also located in this level.
Surrounded by grand hallways and sitting areas, the stairway leads guests up to the home’s middle level and is a work of art in and of itself with its hand turned balusters, carpet runner and beautiful walnut wainscoting, leading up to herringbone patterned wood floors. The second level master bedroom enjoys an enormous balcony, overlooking both the city and the sea, as well as king size bed, his and hers sitting areas, another fireplace with a white wooden mantle and an en suite bath fit for royalty with its claw foot tub, dual vanity sinks, walk in closet and wooded views. A queen guest suite and office complete this floor, both offering en suite bathrooms and balconies overlooking the gardens.
The top floor of Villa 1904 offers a clean, white finish, mixing modern and traditional style with colorful furniture pops throughout. Sitting center stage, a home theater with 9’ x 6’ movie screen and surround sound is upstaged only by the room’s large balcony overlooking Barcelona in all its glory. Accompanying the theater on the uppermost level are three additional guest bedrooms, each with its own en suite bathroom. The first is a king bedroom with mountain views as well as a bathtub and shower in the en suite, while the final two guest bedrooms are perfect for children. One bedroom boasts two twin size beds with twin trundles underneath each and more mountain views, while the other bedroom has a single extra long twin with trundle bed underneath, enjoying sweeping views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea. The en suite bathrooms for both children’s rooms have separate tub and shower.
The staff quarters are located on the ground floor, completely separate from the main house and one floor down from the main level. The kitchen if guests are inclined to create a meal themselves, the gourmet kitchen is fully stocked with the best Gaggenau appliances including a steam oven, convection oven and every other high end appliance one would expect in today’s luxury homes.
The house has a panoramic glass elevator tucked to the side to reach the top floors.
