Description
Casa de Santiago has been lovingly restored into a magnificent property with gardent fruit trees, a charming small town off the door step and miles of beach within easy reach. This villa is a must-stay for guests interested in seeing all that Portugal has to offer.
The manorhouse sits with pride at the top of the village within reach of the castle. From this position, the traditional Alentejo vacation home is afforded stunning views across the roofs and countryside of Alentejo. From the opposite direction, guests can revel in the views of Casa de Santiago's neighbor, dating back to pre-Celtic times. The famed Castle of Santiago do Cacém whose fascinating history spans through the Roman epoch to the Moorish invasions to early Christianity.
The traditional genteel Portuguese home, Casa de Santiago offers the architecture featuring scrolled stone details and comfortable facades. The gardens are sheltered but sunny and provide many fruits from the abundant trees. A heated pool and garden suite have access to modern-day comforts though the current owners have gone to great pains to bring creature comforts to the entire home.
Casa de Santiago is a living history excursion and provides exceptional furnishings, and artwork in addition to the architecture. Fluffy sofas, comfy beds, TVs and other cozy seating areas all allow guests to observe the history within the walls. Antique piano, museum-quality antique oils and drawing room chaises all provide elegant areas to entertain.
